Bilingual processing costs in native first language (L1) speech production

This project was done in collaboration with PI Dr. Olessia Jouravlev as part of the Linguistic Neurodiversity Lab at Carleton University. This project examined whether bilinguals compared to monolinguals are slower to name objects in their L1 (bilingual naming cost effect). Indeed, the results revealed bilingual naming costs in L1, however, they were restricted to certain types of words (i.e., high-frequency non-cognates).
